Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups of soft butter (3 sticks)
  • 1 ½ cups of brown sugar
  • 3 egg yolks (save the egg whites)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp maple flavoring
  • 4 cups of flour
  • ¾ tsp of baking soda
  • ¾ tsp of salt
  • Chocolate chips
  • Pecan halves (optional)

 

Directions (Steps, Oven Temperature, Time per Step)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar 
  3. Blend in egg yolks, vanilla, and maple flavoring into butter mixture
  4. Mix in dry ingredients, adding one cup of flour at a time
  5. Split pecans in groups of two on the cookie sheets
  6. Mold dough into balls
  7. Dip bottom of dough ball in egg whites and lightly press on pair of pecans
  8. Bake for 12 minutes
  9. Cool and cover tops with melted chocolate chips
  10. Cover to allow chocolate to cool and harden for a few hours
