Ingredients

  • Batter:
    • 1 cup of sugar
    • 1 stick of butter
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 small carton of sour cream
    • 1 tsp of vanilla
    • 2 cups of flour
    • 1 tsp of baking soda
    • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • Topping & Filling
    • 1/3 cup of brown sugar
    • ¼ cup of white sugar
    • 1 tsp of cinnamon
    • 1 cup of chopped/crushed pecans or walnuts (optional)

Directions (Steps, Oven Temperature, Time per Step)

  1. Cream together sugar, butter and eggs in a small bowl
  2. In a medium bowl, mix remaining batter ingredients together until a smooth consistency
  3. Put ½ of the batter on bottom of greased cake pan
  4. Sprinkle ½ of the topping/filling over entire pan
  5. Pour remaining ½ of batter on top of filling mixture (Be careful to spread the batter over the entire pan while not disturbing the middle filling. We have found this is best accomplished by placing the batter in areas around the pan and connecting the batter areas together with a butter knife).
  6. Sprinkle remaining topping over entire pan
  7. Bake for 25 minutes

Recipe’s Story: Anecdote (Three to Five Sentences)

This recipe is a family favorite for Christmas morning. On Christmas Eve, my cousins and I get together to make about 15 of these coffee cakes to distribute to family and friends for Christmas! It’s always a joyful time filled with Christmas cheer and Cein Dieon’s Christmas music.

We need high-res images. If you plan on taking an image from your phone just use the full-sized version.  If you plan to scan, it will just need to be 300dpi at full size or if it’s a smaller image that needs to be enlarged, you can do it at 600dpi.
