Recipe Type - Bread
Serving(s) - 2 Loaves
Cook Time - 30-35 minutes
Prep Time - 2 Hours
Dietary Restrictions - Contains gluten

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Warm Water
  • 2/3 cup Honey
  • 1 ¾ tbsp Active Yeast
  • 1 ½ tsp Salt
  • 6 cups All Purpose Flour

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together warm water and honey until honey is dissolved.
  2. Add yeast, stir, and cover with a towel for 20 minutes (After 20 minutes, the mixture should look frothy).
  3. Mix in salt, and then add flour one cup at a time (Dough should start to get thick after 3 cups) to the yeast mixture (I mix with a spatula but a standing mixer with a dough hook could also be used).
  4. Add a little extra flour to hands and knead the dough for 5 minutes in the bowl.
  5. Place kneaded dough in a large greased bowl and cover with towel for 1 hour.
  6. Take dough out of bowl, and punch and knead the dough for a few minutes.
  7. Divide into 2 lightly greased loaf pans and cover with towel for 30 minutes. Preheat oven 325.
  8. Place in oven for 30-35 minutes.

Suggested Pairings:

Great for toasting (e.g., grilled cheese, garlic bread)

Recipe's Story:

My Grandma Violet made fresh bread on a daily basis. Nothing is better than having a slice of warm homemade bread. This isn’t my grandma’s recipe, but I wanted to honor her with a recipe that I found to be so wonderful and easy for anyone new to baking bread.
